LTAP/TTAP E-news
Summer 2008
The 2008 National LTAP/TTAP Conference organized by the National LTAP Association and hosted by the Centers of Region 8, was held at the Beaver Run Resort in Breckenridge, CO. Forty-four LTAP Centers and five TTAP Centers were represented at this annual event.
A special conference section is now available on the LTAP/TTAP program website, www.ltapt2.org. This section includes over 50 articles, presentations, video and more from conference proceedings. Additionally, links to topical resources have been added. The 2008 conference photos are also now available in an online gallery for viewing and downloading.

Stay tuned for updates to this section as more materials arrive at the Clearinghouse and mark your calendars for the 2009 conference July 27-30 in Pittsburgh.

- The '09 NLTAPA Officers were confirmed at the recent National LTAP/TTAP Conference: President: Kevin Burke (IL), President-Elect: Donna Shea (CT), Vice President: Dan Cady (NE), Treasurer: Bernie Alkire (TTAP-MI), Secretary: Larry Sellers (AL).
- Kathy DesRoches has left the New Hampshire LTAP for a position with Manchester Community College. Kathryn Myers is serving as the Center's training, T2.all listserv and newsletter manager.

Washington Update
- Oberstar Welcomes Edwards to the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure.
- OSHA has issued a proposed rule clarifying that violations of PPE and training standards may result in penalties on a per-employee basis.
- The Senate Appropriations Committee approved the Fiscal Year 2009 spending bill for the Departments of Transportation and Housing and Urban Development which funds the U.S. Department of Transportation at $66.8 billion, $2.1 billion greater than FY 2008.
- Senate confirms Thomas Madison Jr. to serve as the FHWA administrator during the final five months of George W. Bush’s presidency.

- Clearinghouse Quarterly Resource List - samples have been mailed to each Center.
- LTAP/TTAP Safety Toolbox: The New Hampshire LTAP has created an online database to house documents for LTAP/TTAP trainers collected by the ad-hoc NLTAPA safety committee.
- Webinar: Complying with the New FHWA Regulation on High Visibility Garments. Sept. 4, from 1-2 PM EDT- offered at no cost by the National Work Zone Safety Information Clearinghouse.

About the FHWA LTAP/TTAP Clearinghouse
The FHWA LTAP/TTAP Clearinghouse provides program support to the Local Technical Assistance Program (LTAP) and the Tribal Technical Assistance Program (TTAP). It is operated under contract to the Federal Highway Administration by the American Road & Transportation Builders Association Transportation Development Foundation (ARTBA-TDF). The Clearinghouse operates from ARTBA's Washington, D.C. office.
